REGENT THEATRE

“THE PROUD VALLEY.”

“The Proud Valley” is a stirring human drama of Welsh mining districts, in which Paul Robeson, famous actorsinger, makes a welcome return to the screen. But none are more enthusiastic than that thb Right Hon. D. Lloyd George, 0.M., M.P., who writes: — “ ‘The Proud Valley’ is a remarkable film, one of the most moving and dramatic I have ever seen. It throbs with genuine human emotion and the acting is superb. I must congratulate all responsible for producing such a work which, apart from its artistic merits, has a real educational value." Paul Robeson, as a Welsh miner in “Proud Valley" surpasses any of his previous screen appearances. This film is a gripping document of life in the coal

country ... it is much more than 1 vehicle for Robeson's incomparable pase voice . . . penetrating under-

standing of the real thing was necessary to make this film, and Jack Jones, actor-producer, has it in full measure. “The Proud Valley” will be shown at the Regent Theatre tonight. In addition to several solo numbers, Robeson is supported in the Eisteddfod sequences by famous Welsh choirs, adding rich harmony to the rare quality of the music. The big supporting cast of “The Proud Valley” includes Janet Johnson. Simon Lack and Edward Chapman.
