STRONGER DEFENCES

AGAINST AIR ATTACKS ON BRITAIN. MORE POWERFUL GUNS & SEARCHLIGHTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON. September 10. The anti-aircraft defences of London and the country generally, have been materially strengthened in recent months, reports the “Daily Telegraph.” It states that more powerful guns have been installed in successive rings extending far outside London. The factories are turning out considerable numbers, of these heavier guns, which are being placed at points where they are expected to prove invaluable - in the defensive system. The anti-aircraft guns’ recent successes are partly attributed to the use of guns with a higher ceiling. More powerful searchlights will cooperate with the guns.
