WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION’S CHAMPIONSHIPS HIGH STANDARD OF PLAY. WINNERS OF VARIOUS SECTIONS. The Wairarapa Table Tennis Associations annual championship fixtures were held in Masterton last night. Entries were good and a high standard of play was reached in all events. Results: — Ladies’ Singles. Semi-finals: Mrs Nicholls beat Miss N. Brown, 21-19, 21-19; Mrs Mead beat Miss Wickens, 21-18, 21-18. Final: Mrs Nicholls beat Mrs Mead, 21-19, 21-12. Ladies’ Doubles. Semi-finals: Mrs Nicholls and Miss Brown beat Misses Masters- and Greenlees, 21-14, 21-14; Misses McGovern and Larsen beat Mrs Mead and Miss Keltic, 21-10, 21-10. Final: Mrs Nicholls and Miss N. Brown beat Misses McGovern and J. Larsen, 21-11, 15-21, 21-19. Men’s Singles. Semi-finals: J. Nicholls beat J. Hayward. 21-11, 21-13; K. Miller beat K. Wood, 21-14, 21-17. Final: J. Nicholls beat K. Miller, 21- 19-21, 21-9, 21-16. Men’s Doubles. Semi-final: Messrs I. Coleman and P. Greenlees beat Lulham and Hawksworth, 21-14, 21-16; Messrs Welch and Daniell beat Jones and Miller, 24-22, 22Final: Coleman and Greenlees beat Welch and Daniell, 21-14, 21-15, 19-21. 22-20. Combined Doubles. Semi-finals: Mr and Mrs Nicholls beat Miss Brown and I. Coleman, 21-19, 21-16; Miss McGovern and Myers beat Miss Masters and Greenlees. 23-25, 21-19. 23-21. Final: Nicholls and Mrs Nicholls beat Miss McGovern and N. Myers, 21-17, 14-21, 21-8.
