WAR EXPENDITURE

CANADA’S RECORD FIGURE. Canada's direct war expenditure during July touched the record figure of 108,000,000 dollars. This does not include financial aid to Britain which for the present fiscal year is estimated between 800,000,000 dollars and 900,000,000 dollars. Taken together, the figures mean that Canadian taxpayers in the present fiscal year have to provide over 2,000,000,000 dollars for the war. It was expected- that the total war spending this year alone will exceed the expenditure of the whole four years of the war in 1914-1918.
