SUCCESSFUL DANCE

EXCELSIOR HOCKEY CLUB PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. TEAMS CONGRATULATED ON PERFORMANCES. The Excelsior Ladies’ Hockey Club held its championship dance in the Masonic Hall last Saturday evening. The function was a most successful one in every way, the hall being well filled by an enthusiastic throng of dancers, who thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment provided for them. At the supper interval, Mr J. Robertson, M.P., presented the trophies won by the club during the season. He congratulated the senior team on winning the senior championship for the fifth year in succession, during which time they had played approximately 70 games, losing only one and drawing one —a most creditable record. He also remarked that the juniors were emulating the good record of the seniors. As this was the second year in succession in which they had annexed the championship, and in addition had also won the six-a-side tournament. Miss N. Page (senior captain) and Mr F. Madsen (coach) replied on behalf of the Excelsior Club. Mr A. Southey carried out the duties of M.C. The music was supplied by the Blue River Dance Band and extras were played by Mr A. Barnes. A Monte Carlo waltz competition was won by Miss V. Russell and Mr C. A. Carrig.

Fashion designer Dolly tree sketched this frock for Judy Garland, the noted film actress, to wear. It is an excellent model for a street frock for young girls, chic and practical at the same time. The blouse, cut on coat lines, is worn over a pleated skirt. Pockets, cuffs and collar of the royal blue frock are edged in red. A small tie and hair ribbon in red complete the outfit.
