MAURICEVILLE

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS \ (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville Women's Institute was held at the residence of Mrs I. D. Cameron. There was a fair attendance of members presided’over by the president, Miss R. Mortensen. Owing to. illness Mrs Pink, of Carterton, was unable to be present for her proposed demonstration, but Mesdames Jarrit and Wright, of Kopuaranga, demonstrated the making of novelty articles for Christmas gifts for which they were thanked. The roll call, “Questions in Envelopes,” proved most amusing. Mrs J. A. Baine was elected delegate to the half-yearly conference of Women's Institutes at Carterton in October. The bird competition was won by Mrs C. Clarke, and the _ best bloom contest resulted: Mrs Neilson, 1; Miss R. Mortensen, 2; Mrs J. Larsen, 3. At the next meeting at Mauriceville West the roll call will be “Three duties for the Husband to do at Home.” . The competition will be: Ground ginger cake. Thanks were accorded to the hostess, Mrs I. D. Cameron. Personal Items, Mrs C. M. Childs has returned from a holiday spent in the Nelson district. Mrs F. Pain is spending a few days at Wanganui.

Home Guard. The Home Guard will parade on Monday evening.
