BOY SCOUTS RENOVATION OF BUILDING. (“Times-Age” Special.). A meeting of the sub-committee of the Boy Scout Movement was held last evening when the question of the renovation of the building was discussed at length. A report will be submitted to the general committee, which will meet on Thursday next. The weekly card party of the Boy Scouts was well attended. The prizes were won as follows: —Ladies: Mrs Jensen, 1; Mrs Pinfold, 2. Men: Mr Edwards, 1; C. Holland, 2. RUGBY FOOTBALL , REDMOND CUP CONTEST. Carterton will be represented as follows in the final game of the season for the Redmond Cup against Featherston at Carterton'tomorrow:—C. Jensen, E. Thompson, M. Hurley, A. Reading, G. Udy, G. Parker, J. Walker, B. Warrington, F. Busch, Q. Desmond, Mathieson, Blake, P. Thomas, J. Taucher, I. Mason, R. Warrington. This game should be stubbornly contested and should draw a good attendance of football enthusiasts. Women's War Service. A lecture will be given by Miss Kitchen on canteen cooking in the Wairarapa P. and A. rooms on Tuesday next at 8 p.m. All women interested are cordially invited to be present. Hockey. The Carterton senior men’s team to play against Wesley at Carrington Park tomorrow in the final game for the Bannin. Shield will be: —A. Ward, G. Townsend, B. Bath, D. Irwin, M. W. Worsfold, A. Williams, ,H. Abbott, R. Andrews, B. Goodin, J. O’Keefe, L. Fitzgerald, D. Gallon, B. Hopkins, and D. Benge. ' / Personal Items. The death occurred at the Rotorua Hospital on Wednesday night of Mrs Frank Tunnicliffe who is well known in the Dalefield district. The deceased left Awanui, Ninety-mile Beach, quite recently to visit her son who is an inmate of the hospital at Rotorua. While there she was taken suddenly ill and was admitted to the hospital where she died. She leaves a husband and a grown-up family of four children, two boys and two girls. The late Mrs Tunnicliffe was a daughter of the late Mr R. G. Welch, formerly of Matarawa. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to the bereaved husband and family. Dance at Belvedere. The Belvedere schoolroom should be filled tonight on the occasion of a dance to provide funds for local soldiers going on active service. Good music and good supper will be provided. Welcome Home. Tomorrow evening the Parkvale and district soldiers’ Social Committee will extend a welcome home to Private C. Bliss, who saw service in the fighting in Greece and Crete, and who has been invalided home. The music for the dancing will be played by Mrs Ashton’s Orchestra. Church Service. A Church of England service will be held at Ponatahi on Sunday at 2 p.m. “Parcel Evening.” In yesterday’s issue an advertisement announcing a “parcel evening” in honour of Miss Wadham s marriage, read September 5, this should have been Friday, September 12.
