OFFENSIVE SWEEP
NINE ENEMY FIGHTERS DESTROYED OPERATIONS BY R.A.F. OVER NORTHERN FRANCE. SOUTH AFRICAN BAGS TWO MORE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, September 4. Nine enemy fighters were destroyed in today’s offensive operations by the R.A.F. over Northern France. Seven of ours are missing. The dock area at Rotterdam was attacked from a great height today by a Flying Fortress. Two enemy fighters which attempted to intercept the plane soon gave up. Two Messerschmitts were brought down over the Channel today by a young South African pilot. He destroyed the two machines within half a minute of each other.
