HOME GUARD
PARADE ON SUNDAY SPECIAL SERVICE. ACTIVITIES OF MASTERTON BATTALION. In response to his Majesty’s request a special Church Parade of A and C and Headquarters companies of the Masterton Battalion of the Home Guard will bo held on Sunday. The men will parade at their respective drill halls at 9.15 a.m. to be ready to move off at 9.30 a.m. The men will march to Masterton Park to the Pipe and Municipal bands. The Service wiki conclude at 10.30 a.m. to enable the, men to attend their own churches after the parade. In the case of rain the parade will be held at the same time and place but the service will be arranged in rhe Municipal Hall. Te Ore Ore and Kaituna Platoons will parade at the Municipal Hall. Other country units will comply with the arrangements at local churches as fixed by unit commanders. Classes. —Officers: Tuesday. September 9 at Municipal Hall at 7.30 p.m. Cpl M. Jones on military intelligence. N. Tuesday, at Municipal Hall at 7.0 p.m. Parade will move to Memorial Park where Lieut. G. R. Jackson will demonstrate night compass work in open country. P.T.: Tuesday, at College Assembly Hall at 7.0 p.m. Signallers: Parades as arranged by Signal Officer. Ambulance: Tuesday class is eliminated. Platoon will in future parade on Thursdays only. Parade, Thursday, September 4 at St. John's Rooms at 7.0 p.m. Parades. —A Company at Drill Hall, on Thursday. September 11, at 7.0 p.m.; C Company at Municipal Hall, on Thursday, at 7.0 p.m. Other units as arranged by unit commanders. (Special note: There will be no ’ half-day parade of A and C and Headquarters companies on the following two Sundays.) C Company Commander will supply a detail of approximately 40 men to parade at Mahno's Garage, Chapel Street, on Thursday, September 11. at 7.15 p.m.. for range practice. Rifle Platoon will make arrangements and supervise. All rifles held by the battalion or any unit or individual thereof and not already examined and classified by the gunsmith are to be examined forthwith. Such rifles are to be sent immediately by the unit or individual holding same to -Quartermaster Sergeant R. Jenkins, 80 Bannister Street. Where units send in rifles in quantity they should ring Quartermaster Sergeant R. Jenkins and arrange acceptance ofdelivery before despatching rifles. Labelling: Each rifle must have a label securely attached showing clearly: (a) Full name and address of owner: (b) Full name and address of present holder: (c) Name of holder's platoon or other unit. Care must be exercised in packing to prevent damage. Freight-,/ will be paid by the Area if necessaryAny rifles not forwarded for examination immediately are liable to be recalled by the Battalion. Transfers, promotions and appointments: Stretcher bearer J. H. Marsh to be Corporal; W. Orange transferred to Signals; F Company L/Cpls F. Rimene and A. Pollett to be Corporals; T. Te Huki and T. Rimene to be L/Cpls. Band: J. K. ,Taino to be Drum Cpl.. G. C. M. McKay to be Pipe Cpl., W. Marchbanks to be Drum Cpl,, W. N. M. Douglas to be Pipe L/Cpl. Marched out: E. Governor (ill health), N. G. Norris and T. Hubbard to Territorial Camp, C. Bishop (left district), L. B. Welch to Camp.
