RED STAR RUGBY CLUB
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE • FINAL MEETING OF SEASON. PRESENTATION TO MEMBER. The final meeting of the season of the Red Star Football Club’s general committee was held at the residence of Mr S. Henson, Macara Street, last night, there being a good, attendance. After business had been disposed of Mr and Mrs V. Pinkney, were welcomed by the chairman. Mr Pinkney, who now resides at Paremata is a vice-president of the club. On behalf of the committee, the chairman presented Mr N. C. O’Kane, who is joining the air force, with a wallet and cigarette case. He referred to the excellent service Mr O’Kane had given the club as a player and official during the past few years and wished him the best of luck. Mr Henson’s remarks were endorsed by Messrs R. Howard, R. Milne and V. Pinkney. Mr O’Kane suitably replied, stating that what he had done for the club was a matter of duty. He hoped that if he had the ’luck to return safely home he would again be able to don the Red Star jersey. Mi’ and Mrs Henson provided supper, their hospitality being much appreciated. It was announced that the Red Star senior team would play a return match against Athletic seniors at Wellington on September 20.
