ROAR OF BOMBERS
ACROSS GERMAN CAPITAL HEAVY BOMBS START MANY GREAT FIRES. FRANKFURT ALSO BLASTED. LONDON, September 3. Four-engined R.A.F. bombers roared over Berlin last night and another strong force of bombers made a heavy attack on Frankfurt. .The British planes found their way through a sea of clouds io the German capital and ran right across the city to drop their bombs. Fires sprang up almost immediately, one very large one being right in the centre of the city. Several explosions occurred and then a great one followed, after which another fire started. Some of the heaviest bombs were dropped on the capital. One very large fire was seen near one of the main railway stations. In the attack on Frankfurt, railway communications were also battered. The Rhine was red with the glow of Ares blazing in factories along both banks of the river. Attacks were also made on Mannheim, Ostend and Dunkirk. Nine of our planes failed to return from all these night operations.
