OVERSUBSCRIBED
NEW ZEALAND WAR LOAN MANY MORE ENQUIRIES. NATIONAL SAVINGS SCHEME TO CONTINUE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. An announcement that the £10,000,000 War Loan had been oversubscribed was made yesterday by the Acting-Prime Minister, Mr Nash, who said that the full amount had been applied for well before the closing time on Tuesday night. Many more inquiries had been received and he expected that the extra money would be taken. “The objective has been achieved and the Government thanks all those who have so generously responded.” Mr Nash said. “I propose to make a full statement tomorrow night, giving particulars of the total amount subscribed and the proportions subscribed in the various provinces.” In elaboration of his statement on Tuesday night that there would be no more borrowing this year. Mr Nash said he wished to make it clear that while there would not be another war loan, the National Savings schemes would be continued and ordinary loans which had been withdrawn to enable the war loan to come on to the market would again be opened.
