SERVICES APPRECIATED PRESENTATIONS TO POPULAR RESIDENTS. (“Times-Age” Special.)' . . On a recent Sunday, the parishioners of St Teresa's Church met to make a presentation to Mrs N. Carey (neo May McLeod) on the occasion of her recent marriage. Father O'Connor spoke of the good work and the devotion in all matters relating to the church rendered by Mrs Carey. As a mark of the esteem.in which she was held by the parshioners, Father O’Connor presented the guest with a silver entree dish, accompanied by wishes for good health and happiness to herself and her husband. Mrs Carey suitably replied. On Monday night at the residence of Miss Card, the members of the Children of Mary’s Society met to do honour to two of their members, Mrs N. Carey and Miss Ouida McLeod. Miss Card, directress, on behalf of the members, spoke in most appreciative terms of both guests. She was pleased to know Mrs Carey was to reside in Featherston, but all were sorry to lose the services of Miss McLeod. Both were very popular members of the society. As a token of appreciation, Miss Eileen Cole presented Mrs Carey with a beautiful framed picture. Then Miss Flossie Saba presented Miss McLeod with a bound prayer book. The recipients suitably responded. After being accorded musical honours Father O'Connor made reference to the great work performed by the two sisters. Nothing was a trouble to them where the church was concerned. Miss McLeod was a great acquisition to the choir. The speaker wished both health and happiness. The time was spent with musical items and competitions. The prize winners were Misses Janet Dawson, Pat O’Neale, and Flossie Saba. Supper was provided and the gathering brought to a close with the singing of A.uld Lang Syne. Miss Ouida McLeod will leave on Monday to join the Sisters of the Home of Compassion at Island Bay. Personal. Miss June Taylor has returned from a holiday spent in Christchurch. Women’s War Service. During the weekend the Home Guard began the digging of the section which the junior members of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary are to cultivate. There was a good attendance of the Women's War Service Auxiliary at the class held for the purpose of providing instruction in physical exercises' on Monday night.
