Mr David Bengurion, chairman of the. executive of the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem, has appealed to London for the formation of Jewish units to enable Jews in Palestine fully to assist the war effort. He said: “Jews from neutral countries, particularly the United States, would come in their thousands. Already there are 10.000 Jews, in the British forces and. at least another 30,000 in Palestine are eager to serve. Australians and New Zealanders wondered why they were sent to Palestine when the people on the spot were anxious to fight.”
