PERSONAL
Mr S. G. Holland, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, returned to Wellington yesterday from the South Island. After 43 years’ service with the Bank of Australasia, Mr G. D. Taylor, manager of the Gisborne branch of the bank, is to retire next month. He will be succeeded in his post by Mr W. Wrightson, accountant in the Wellington bank. The following Wairarapa ' airmen have been instructed to report to the New Zealand Air Force station at Levin:—J. Groves (Masterton), C. N. O’Kane (Masterton), C. H. I. Pease (Masterton), W. F. Russell (Pahiatua). Mr O’Kane is a member of the Red Star senior football team and a Wairarapa representative player. He also played for the Red Star Cricket Club for some seasons. Under the rules of the Automobile Association (Wellington) a proportion of the members of the executive retire at the annual meeting. Messrs E. Palliser and E. P. Hay retire this year automatically. In view of the approaching annual meeting a ballot was held at a meeting of the executive this week between Dr. J. M. Graham Robertson and Messrs E. A. Batt and E. H. de J. Clere. The result was the retention of Mr Batt on the executive.
