STATE THEATRE

“DOWN ARGENTINE WAY.” The brilliant picture, “Down Argentine Way,” will be finally shown tonight. “MELODY FOR THREE.” Two films of widely differing character will be shown tomorrow night at the State Theatre. The main film is “Melody for Three,” which stars Jean Hersholt in one of his characteristic roles as wise and benign old Dr. Christian, a part which he has played with distinction several times before. The story deals with the hopes of a young mother that her son might some day become a great musician, and the part that the doctor plays in helping her to realise that ambition, at the same time bringing together a family which has been broken up. Fay Wray and Walter Woolf King are also starred. It is one of the most touching and brilliant stories brought to the screen. Splendidly acted it makes an immediate appeal to the audience. The second film, “Wagon Train,” is a fine Western starring Tim Holt as the daring head of a convoy of food trucks taking much-needed supplies through to dangerous country to the settlers of an outback town. The photography is excellent, and the film, like all Westerns, contains plenty of excitement and action. The photography is particularly good.
