AUGUST IN WELLINGTON. NEW RECORDS ESTABLISHED. • (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The month just passed was the wettest and most sunless August ever experienced in Wellington and temperatures were below normal, but the month ended with a promise of spring. Rain was recorded on 2G of the 31 days of August, the total fall being 10.20 inches against the average of 4.18 and seventeen days. There were no particularly heavy falls, the biggest being just over an inch on August 15. There were 22 consecutive days with rain, constituting Wellington’s record rain spell. There' were 85.5 hours of bright sunshine, against the average of 141,G in August. The previous low record was in August, 1907, with 94.6 hours of sunshine.
