The ‘‘Washington Star,” in an editorial commenting on the resignation of Mr R. G. Menzies and on the fact that the new Federal Premier (Mr A. W. Fadden) heads the minor Country Party, said: ‘‘These political complications have nothing to do directly with Australia’s war attitude. Labour, although preferring to remain outside the Government and retain freedom to criticise and oppose Governmental, measures, has pledged whole-hearted I co-operation in the war effort.” • i
