When five wagons on a through Dunedin-Christchurch goods train were derailed at Bankside, near Rakaia, shortly after ten o’clock this morning, the only sufferers were six farm horses, which were dumped heavily as the truck in which they were travelling overturned. It was necessary to transfer passengers on the midday express south to a special train from Ashburton, which took the travellers as far as Timaru. It is expected that the line will be clear before the up express passes tonight.
