PROGRESS ON ESTIMATES

* BUSINESS FOR PARLIAMENT WEEK. RIVERS CONTROL BILL & OTHERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The House of Representatives yesterday continued its consideration of the Estimates. Six classes were voted, involving £6,396,088. The total of departmental expenditure authorised since the Estimates were started on three weeks ago is £14,532,091, comprising 35 classes. The votes approved yesterday were: Education Department, £4,772,200; Justice and Prisons, £278,005; Native, £423,300; Native Trustees Account, £24,362; Mines Department, £298,475; State Coal Mines Account, £594,746. An indication of the business to be brought before the House next week was given by the Acting-Prime Minister, Mi' Nash. He said that the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Bill would be taken on Wednesday and possibly the Emergency Regulations Am'endment Bill. It was also possible that the War Damages Bill would be brought down on Wednesday or Thursday in addition to two other minor Bills. Mr Nash said he did not think the Bill relating to a general medical service under the Social Security Act wculd make an appearance next week, though it was a possibility, but the Minister of Health would have to conclude his talks with the doctors before it would be brought down. . The House rose at 5.30 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday.
