HOME GUARD THIS WEEK’S PARADE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Home Guard paraded under the command of Mr A. White on Tuesday night. The first part of the evening was spent in physical exercises, under the instruction of Sergeant J. Buck. Two courses in musketry embracing range discipline under Platoon Commander C. Carter and sighting and correction, under Commander F. Benton were given. Mr White gave an address on deployment drill. The men showed keen interest and enthusiasm. This training is preliminary to shooting on the range. OBITUARY t MR WILLIAM WATERS. The death occurred in the Wellington Hospital yesterday morning of Mr William Waters. The late Mr Waters, who suffered a short illness, was well known in the Wairarapa. For some years he was a milking machine representative. His relatives in Featherston are Mrs K. Doyle (sister-in-law), and Mrs Ron Cameron (neice). His wife predeceased him a few weeks ago. The funeral will take place at Karori on Friday. Donation to Red Cross. Mrs Chas. Elgar, of Fernside, has given to the Red Cross Society a valuable gold bracelet, set with jewels, which is to be disposed of and the proceeds donated to the Society’s funds. Personal. Mrs Roy Donald and her family are spending the school holidays at Plimmerton. Mrs J. W. Holland, who has been a patient of the Greytown Hospital for the past five months, returned to her home yesterday. Mr H. Lawson (president), and Mr N. C. C. Shepherd (secretary of the Wairarapa Automobile Association) left, for Napier yesterday to attend the North Island Motor Union Conference. Mr and Mrs Goodwin are visiting Wellington.
