WHEAT & COTTON
GOVERNMENT STOCKS IN U.S.A.
PRESIDENT VETOES FREEZING LEGISLATION.
(By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 11.55 a.m.) WASHINGTON, August 25.
President Roosevelt has vetoed legislation designed to freeze Government stocks of wheat and cotton, declaring that it is contrary to sound governmental policy and against the best interests, in the long run, both of farmers and consumers. It would seriously and adversely affect the Agricultural Adjustment programme, which has been so beneficial to farmers in recent years.
