The last minute decision of the New Zealand Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, to postpone his departure till the return of Mr Churchill and the arrival of the Canadian Prime Minister, Mr Mackenzie King, saved his life. He had booked for America on board the ferry plane which crashed on August 15, killing the head of the British Supply Council in North America, Mr Purvis, and everyone else on board.
