EMPIRE AIR SCHEME

PERIOD TO BE EXTENDED IF NECESSARY.

NEW ZEALAND TO PARTICIPATE.

(By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright)

CANBERRA, August 21

The Air Minister, Mr McEwen, announced that plans to prolong, and possibly to expand, the Empire Air Training Scheme after 1943 are being considered by the representatives of the Empire Governments in London.

If it was necessary to go on with the Empire Training Scheme beyond April, 1943, New Zealand would continue to participate in it, the ActingPrime Minister, Mr Nash, stated yesterday. The Dominion Air Force representative was in Canada at the present time keeping in touch with the matter, he added, and as the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, would shortly visit Canada it was probable that he would investigate the position.
