CENTRAL SCHOOL

PARTY BY STANDARD SIX PUPILS. PRESENTATION TO TEACHER. A pleasant party was organised by the pupils of standard six of Central School last evening for the express purpose of saying farewell to Mr O’Kane, who will shortly be going into camp. Mr ,O’Kane has been their relieving teacher since Mr Williams undertook military duties some months ago. The programme consisted of dances, games and vocal items, arid was capably managed by Pat Ward. During the evening Mr O'Kane was given a present from the class. In his remarks introducing the boy who was to make the presentation, the headmaster, Mr E. G. Coddington mentioned that Mr O'Kane, who had done very useful work in standard 6 during his stay, would be going into the Air Force. Mr Coddington gave instances of his experiences in connection with aircraft during the last war (humorous and otherwise) and pointed out the vast difference in this war. He was sure that Mr O’Kane would worthily uphold the honour of Central School, of Masterton, and New Zealand.

Master Ward thanked Mr O’Kane for his help and guidance and presented him with a useful present. The evening was a most pleasant one and thanks are due to the parents for the supper provided. Music was supplied by Mr O’Kane and Mr Coddington Junr.
