Slight Earthquake.
A slight shock of earthquake was felt in Masterton at 9.27 o’clock this morning. It was preceded by a district rumble. Heavy Rain at Akaroa. Over 22 inches of rain have fallen at Akaroa in the last eight days, breaking all previous records. The heaviest fall was 8.36 in on August 16. Fall From Horse. Mr A. P. Wilson, Flat Point, was admitted to Master ton _ Hospital yesterafternoon with injuries to his right arm, received, it is reported, when he fell from his horse. Badminton Match. St. Matthew's (Masterton) beat Carterton in an inter-club badminton match played at Carterton by 9 matches, 281 points, to 6 matches, 224 points. The games were keenly contested and resulted in close scores. Electric Power Supply. With the continued co-operation of supply authorities and consumers, it should be possible to go through the coming summer and following winter without need for drastic restrictions and reductions in the consumption of electric power. This is the view expressed by the Minister of Public Works, Mr Armstrong, and the Minister of Supply, Mr Sullivan, in a joint statement. Though the North Island has passed the period of highest demand for electric power, they say, there is still need for economy in its use,
