FLYING ACCIDENT
AIRCRAFTMAN INJURED AT WOODBOURNE. CRASH DURING NIGHT FLYING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Leading Aircraftman Jack Polkinghorne, of Wellington, was seriously injured when a light monoplane crashed during night flying operations at Woodbourne (Marlborough), at about 9.30 o’clock last night. The accident occurred a mile north-west of the aerodrome. The pilot, who was flying solo, suffered a broken leg and arm and extensive abrasions. The machine was badly wrecked. Aircraftman Polkinghorne was taken to hospital. The cause of the crash is unknown. A court of enquiry will be held.
