WAIRARAPA UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING,

GRADE CHAMPIONSHIPS CLOSED

(“Times-Age” Special.)

The fortnightly meeting of the Management Committee of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union was held in Carterton last evening and was presided over by Mr K. G. Fairbrother. There were also present: Messrs M. J. Parker, N. Welch, S. Henson, F. Morton, R. Howard, F. B. Brough, J. T. Scott and the secretary, Mr H. A. McPhee. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs G. Udy and E. B. Booth.

The treasurer reported a credit balance at the Bank of New Zealand of I £llO 8s lOd and at the Post Office Savings Bank of £7 9s 9d. Account's amounting to £4O Is 8d were passed for payment. Mr Kennedy, secretary of Schools’ Rugby Football Union, wrote asking for the use of Wairarapa representative jerseys for the school primary representatives who would take part in the annual schools tourney at Wanganui. The request was granted. Permission was given the Masterton third grade team to play a game against Hutt thirds at Hutt on August 30, also for Masterton fourths to play Hutt fourths at Masterton on August 30. It was stated that there was a possibility of a return game between the Wellington and Wairarapa seniors being played at Carterton on August 30.

Advice was received that no game between Wairarapa and the Army team could be played this season. It was decided to close the third class championship games, A and B grades, and also the fourth grade. The Redmond Cup fixtures for next Saturday were drawn as follows: — Carterton v. Greytown, at Carterton; Featherston v. Master ton, at Featherstone Gladstone v. Red Star, at Masterton. The winners of the CartertonGreytown game will play Featherston. Votes of thanks were accorded the Wellington Rugby Union for the hospitality extended to the Wairarapa team during their visit to Wellington last weekend, and also to the Carterton Club for use of grounds and lights for training purposes.
