WEDDING
BIRD—VO SD. In the Kuripuni Methodist Church on Saturday Ethel Lillian Vose, youngest daughter of Mr Thos. Vose, of Masterton, and the late Mrs E. Vose, of Carterton, was married' to Leonard James Bird, third son of Mr and Mrs H. F; Bird, of Carterton. The officiating minister was the Rev. H. S. Kings, and the organist Mrs H. Speight. In the absence of her father the bride was escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr F. R. Clark, of Featherston. She looked charming in a rust afternoon gown of heavy crepe marocain with brown fox fur,’and tiger gold accessories. She wore a lovely shoulder spray to tone. The bridesmaid, Miss Winifred Bird (sister of the bridegroom), was attired in a grey costume, with navy' blue accessories, grey fur stole and a shoulder spray. The duties of best man were capably carried out by Mr Leonard Herrick, of Carterton. During the signing of the register, a solo. “I'll Walk Beside You," was sung by Mrs H. Speight. ' As the bride left the church she was presented with a lucky horse-shoe by the bridegroom’s nephew, Master Alan Bird. After the ceremony a reception was held at the bride’s home where Mrs F. Clarke, sister of the bride, received the guests, wearing a navy blue costume, black fur stole, and shoulder spray. She was assisted by Mrs H. Bird, who was attired in a nigger brown costume, with brown fox fur and shoulder spray, to tone. The wedding cake was the gift of the bride's sister, Mrs F. Clark. Among the gifts were a number of cheques. Later Mr and Mrs L. J. Bird left for South Wairarapa, where a short honeymoon will be spent, prior to Mr Bird's return to Trentham Military Camp.
