ORCHESTRAL CONCERT

THIS EVENING’S PROGRAMME. Bright and tuneful orchestral music, interspersed with vocal items, will be presented at the Opera House tonight by the Masterton orchestra, under the baton of Mr C. W. Kerry. The programme, which should prove to be a popular one, includes request numbers. Mr D. Couper will contribute vocal items and Miss Gwen Grieg will be the solo pianiste. Beethoven’s “Egmont” overture, Col-eridge-Taylor’s “Petite Suite de Concert” and Coates’s “London Suite” figure among the orchestral fare. The highlight of the evening’s entertainment will be a suite based on waltz themes by Strauss, in which Miss Grieg wili be able to display her artistry as a pianiste. After many weeks of untiring practice, the orchestra is said to be in splendid form and music lovers are assured of an evening’s excellent entertainment.
