CHURCH SERVICES
On Sunday afternoon, at 3 o’clock. Colonel W. A. Ebbs, chief secretary of the Salvation Army in Now Zealand, will give a recital entitled “Sidelights of Service,” in the Salvation Army Citadel at Masterton. The Colonel has had a very wide experience as a Salvation Army officer. His appointments prior to coming to New Zealand included the command of Salvation Army operations in Belgium. France and Italy, and for eleven years he held a very important position in the United States of America. The Colonel will be accompanied by Mrs Ebbs. The services in the Masterton Presbyterian Church and at Matahiwi tomorrow will be conducted by the Rev. John Davie; A community sing will precede the evening service in Knox Church.
The Masterton Baptist Fellowship will meet tomorrow morning at the Y.M.C.A. rooms. The speaker will be Mr W. Teeboon. The Sunday School and Bible Class will meet at 10 a.m. At the Methodist Church tomorrow the services will be conducted by the Rev. H. S. Kings. The subject at the morning service will be “The Secret Strength of Discipleship,” and in the evening, “The Peril of the Preoccupied.” There will be an afternoon service at Mt. Bruce. The choir will visit the Hospital at 4 p.m. The evening service at Kuripuni will be conducted by the Rev. G. Knowles Smith. At St Matthew’s Church. Masterton. tomorrow morning Archdeacon Rich will speak on “War Aims,” and at the special war intercession service in the evening he will speak on “Our Men Overseas.” The Archdeacon will conduct the services at Taueru, Rangitumau and Kopuaranga. The evening service at Kuripuni will be taken by Mr J. F. Jaine.
