Ickes, Oil Fuel Controller, announced to the Press that the first American tanker shipment of aviation gasoline leaves Los Angeles today for Vladivostock. C-ther tankers are to follow shortly. Mr Ickes said that despite the sales curfew (the early closing of service stations) deliveries of gasoline were up eight per cent. Therefore more rigid steps must be expected immediately. He is sending Mr Edwin .G. Pauley to London to study the oil situation in all its aspects, including rationing. SOVIET REPORT NO IMPORTANT CHANGE ON FRONTS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 9.15 a.m.) RUGBY, August 14. A Russian communique, issued early in the afternoon, states: “During the night of August 13 nothing of importance occurred on the fronts. “Cur Air Force, in co-operation with our land forces, continued to inflict blows on the motor and mechanised units and infantry of the enemy and on his aerodromes." A Berlin communique states: "German and Rumanian troops, in further unceasing pursuit, have reached the coast of the Black Sea, between Odessa and the Bug estuary. “Operations on the rest of the front are proceeding according to plan. “The Luftwaffe on August 13 inflicted heavy blows on transport ships on the coast off Odessa and Nikolaev, which were prepared for the flight of Soviet troops. Two transports were destroyed and five other large ships severely damaged.”
