MEETING OF MASTERTON COMMITTEE ! ARRANGEMENTS FOR ANNUAL CONFERENCE. APPRECIATION OF MR IRWIN’S SERVICES. The Masterton branch of the Plunket Society held its monthly meeting yesterday afternoon. Those present were: Mesdames J. Caselberg (in [the chair), S. L. P. Free, P. Nathan, J. C. Broad, J. V. Gordon, G. C. L. Dickel, R. C. Drummond. T. F. Watson, T. Jordan, < E. J. Heffer, E. G. Norman, N. Irwin, A. H. Falloon, R. Miller (Mauriceville sub-branch), H. R. Keltie, Sortain Smith, E. G. Eton, H. H. Daniell, A. F. Stewart and C. A. Carmine. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames D. Donald, lan Bunny, T. W. Wardell, J. James, J. D. O’Connor and J. M. Coradine. A letter from the Town Clerk with reference to Plunket requisites in the event of an emergency was read. A circular from the Dominion Headquarters stated that the sum due from the branch for overhead expenses for the current year would be £35. A circular from the Dominion Secretary stated that the annual general conference would be held in Wellington on Wednesday and Thursday, October 15 and 16. All remits were to be in hand two months before the conference and three delegates were to be appointed to represent Master ton. It was resolved that the officers of the executive be appointed, Mesdames J. Caselberg, J. D. O’Connor and S. L. P. Free.

Accounts amounting to £ll5 10s were passed. As the convenor of the car committee, Mr N. Irwin, was leaving for military camp it was decided to send him a letter of thanks and appreciation for the valuable time and work he had given in connection with the supervising of the upkeep of the nurse’s car, and wishing him good luck and a speedy return.

The nurses’ report for July stated:— Masterton: Visits to office, adults 413; babies 367; pre-school children 48; total 828. Visits to homes, new cases 49, old cases 138; total, 187; pre-school children seen in homes, 12; new cases charted for month (town and country), 22; Out-stations, Tinui sub-branch, Blairlogie, Annedalp, Tinui, Maungapakeha (2 visits each), new cases 1; visits to new cases 2; old cases 20, total 22. Mauriceville sub-branch: Kopuaranga, Mauriceville East and West, 3 visits each; Mangamahoe, 2 visits; Ihuraua Valley, 1; new cases, 4; visits to new cases, 12; visits to old cases, 42; total 54. Pre-natal section: New cases, 2; return visits, 7; visits to homes, 2; casual, 1; total, 12.
