Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:—Barograph, 29.80. Shade temperature: Maximum 50.4, minimum 40.1, terrestrial 30.2. Rain, 48 points. Solway: Mr H. m. Boddington reports that 52 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. PHASES OF THE MOON. Last quarter, August 15, 1.40 p.m.; new mo'on, August 23, 6.34 a.m.; first quarter, August 30, 2.4 a.m. SUN. The sun rose today at 7.13 a.m., and sets at 5.38 p.m.
