HOUSE SITTING TODAY

ITEMS OF CURRENT BUSINESS.

BILLS IN EARLY PROSPECT,

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day.

At the meeting of the House of Representatives today, business may include consideration of written replies by Ministers to questions. About 20 questions remain to be answered. An alternative possibility for today is the continuation of the second reading debate on the Finance Bill introduced last week. Though the Opposition has generally accepted the Bill, one or two clauses are provoking the discussion expected by the Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, when he introduced the measure.

Bills likely to make an early appearance in the House include the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill, the War Damages Bill and the Repatriation Bill. There is also to be an amendment to the law relating to flogging as a punishment, but it is uncertain whether this will be effected by an amendment to the Crimes Act, or the Statutes Amendment Bill or by a special measure. Another Bill ready for presentation is an Emergency Regulations Bill, validating regulations already issued by the Government under the Emergency Regulations Act.
