DEATH OF THE MARQUIS OF WILLINGDON.
EMINENT SERVICE TO STATE.
LONDON, August 12.
The death has occurred of the Marquis of Willingdon, at the age of 74 years. He gave 25 years distinguished service to the Commonwealth. He was at one time Governor of Bombay, Governor of Madras, Governor-General of Canada and Viceroy of India. He held the last position at a critical time in Anglo-Indian relations.
