ST. MATTHEW’S SCOUTS
COMMITTEE’S ANNUAL MEETING. INCREASED ROLL NUMBER. The annual meeting of the St. Matthew’s Scout Group was held in Masterton last night. The Venerable Archdeacon E. J. Rich presided over a good attendance. In moving the adoption of the annual report, Archdeacon Rich said Scoutmaster Isles, prior to entering camp, had told him that the roll number was the highest since his association with the troop. Archdeacon Rich thanked the Scoutmaster, his assistants, cubmasters. the chairman and secretary for their work. Archdeacon Rich referred to the death of the Chief Scout. Lord Baden-Powell, and commented on the high ideals he had possessed. The cubmaster, Miss E. C. Braggins, and the assistant cubmaster, Miss J. Askew, submitted reports setting out the activities of the cub packs. The election of officers resulted: President, Archdeacon E. J. Rich; vicepresidents, Mesdames N. Beetham, H. G. Moser, B. V. Skeet, Miss K. Morrison, Messrs W. Marchbanks, W. A. Clarke, G. L. Thomas, S. L. P. Free. A. L. Askew, J. F. Jaine and J. V. Dolan; committee, Mesdames G. C. L. Dickel, W. Marchbank, J. F. Jaine, Isles, Messrs A. M, Sanson, W. L. Hunter and H Braggins; hon. secretary, Mr J. K. Jaine; hon. auditor, Mr A. D. Low. Annual Reporl. The annual report, signed by the secretary, Mr J. K. Jaine, stated that Scoutmaster R. Isles was in the Army and was training at Trcntham. Acting
Scoutmaster A. Larsen had volunteered as a signalman in the Royal Navy aijd was overseas. The balance sheet showed a smaller credit balance than last year’s, on account of no efforts having been made to raise funds by appeals .to the public.
