THREAT TO ODESSA

BELIEVED TO HAVE BECOME MORE SERIOUS NO INDICATION OF RUSSIAN WEAKENING. GERMANS MAKING LARGE CLAIMS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 9.50 a.m.) RUGBY, August 11. Although there is no fresh news in London of the fighting in the Ukraine, where the Germans have made large claims, upon which the Russians do not comment, it is believed tin well-informed circles that the German pressure is continuing and that the threat to Odessa has become greater during

the last three days. There is no indication, however,-that the Russian line is broken. The opinion is expressed that the tanks will find it hard going in the Ukraine when the heavy rains start next month, the country being typically fenland in character.
