AIRCRAFT LOSSES
BALANCE RETAINED BY BRITAIN. IN WEEK OF INCESSANT RAIDING. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 1.0 p.m.) RUGBY, August 10. A week of incessant and widespread R.A.F. raiding resulted in Britain retaining the balance in aircraft gains and losses. Comparative losses during the week ending at dawn today are: — German: Over Britain, two by day and one by night; over Europe, 35 by day and one by night; Axis, in Middle East, 17. Total, 56. R.A.F.: Over Britain, by day and night, nil; over Europe, 24 by day and 27 by night; Middle East, one; total, 52. The Admiralty meanwhile announces that one aircraft was destroyed by a British warship during the week ended at noon yesterday.
