Germany is building barracks in Italy to accommodate an. army of occupation, totalling 300,000 men to resist attempted British landings and to take control of the country in the event of riots against Fascism, reports the “Hera Id-Tribune’s Washington correspondent. This confirms information brought by travellers from Europe that British landings would be welcomed by the populations anywhere on the European coast. The Germans are well aware of this and so are digging in everywhere.
