The Minister of Supply, Senator McLeay, announced that he had received news from America that the Californian Texas Company had arranged for two of its tankers to be diverted to the New Zealand and Australian run.

The Acting-Prime Minister, Mr Nash, said last night that any extra facilities that would provide further petrol supplies for Australia and New Zealand and would not endanger the major war effort would be more than welcome.
