OBITUARY

MRS AMELIA JANE DOHERTY. The death has occurred of Mrs Amelia Jane Doherty, widow of the late Mr Hugh Alexander Doherty and mother of Mrs T. E. Allen, Te Ore Ore. Mrs Doherty, who was 76 years of age, was born in Victoria, Australia, and came to New Zealand 33 years ago. Though she took little part in public affairs, Mrs Doherty’s gentle and sympathetic nature won her many friends and her quiet acts of kindness will long be remembered by those who knew her. Mrs Doherty had been in failing health for some time and she died peacefully at the home of her only daughter, Mrs Allen. The funeral service in Masterton this morning, was well attended by district settlers. The cortege proceeded to the Crematorium, Karori.
