CENTRAL SCHOOL

DEMONSTRATION PARTY. GIVEN BY STANDARD 3 PUPILS. Last evening the Standard 3 of Central School held a demonstration party in the School Assembly Hall to which were invited their parents and the other members of their families. The party was held primarily to demonstrate to parents the kind of work that now forms a part of the general routine of school life. Special, emphasis was placed upon the new drill and the class worked through a table of exercises. It was pointed out to parents how desirable it was that children should be properly dressed for these exercises so that they could be fieely done and the greatest benefit could be got from doing them. The evening was an exceedingly pleasant one and many expressions of appreciation were uttered by parents at the close. There was a large attendance of parents and friends and thanks are due lor the splendid supper provided by them and for the help given in serving it. The nrogramme was as follows: (1) Drill display; (2) remarks by Headmaster (Mr E. G. Coddington); (3) Gay Gordons; (4) sea songs, (a) Three Poor Mariners, (b) Mermaid, (c) Rio Grande, Cd) Dutch Sailor Song; (5) Military Two-step; (6) Ace of Diamonds; (7) Monte Carlo Waltz; (8) American Songs (a) O Canada, (b) Canadian Boat Song; (c) Old Folks at Home, (d) Star Spangled Banner; (9) Clap Dance; (10) Introduction to Parents of Class Cabinet Ministers: (11) Highland Schottische; (12) Forfeit Waltz; (13) Bumrell Polka; (14) Sunper; (15) Songs (a) On the Ball; (b) Waltzing Matilda: (16) Verse Speaking, Mckau Sentry Song: (7) Gay Gordons; (18) Gallopcde; (19) Gipsy Tap; (20) Chain Waltz. All the music was played by Mr E. C. Coddington. Graham Denby acted as M.C. during the evening. The party closed, with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem.
