WOMEN’S DIVISION
MEETING IN MASTERTON. SUCCESSFUL SHOP DAY. i The monthly meeting cf the local branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union and shop day was held yesterday in the Rest Room, King Street, Masterton. The home-made soap competition was won by Mrs E. Wright, Mrs Ivan Jackson and Mrs C. C. Jackson. Next month’s competition will be • for six white scones (plain). At the meeting several new members were welcomed by Mrs Jackson, who gave a short talk on the business discussed at the recent Dominion Conference held in Wellington. It was decided that Mrs Pike and Miss E. Rutherford be placed in charge of the distribution and collection of Provincial Council wool. The knitted garments will be for men of the Merchant Navy. Knitters who are interested are asked to call or ring Mrs E. J. Wright or Mrs John Gray, College Street, for wool. It was decided that small quantities of knitted garments be sent away as soon as they are handed in. Sympathy was expressed for Mrs Barrer in the serious illness of her husband; and also Mrs Anderson, who is at present in the hospital. A donation of eggs was sent from the Masterton branch to the Sedgley Home. The takings at the shop were considered very satisfactory.
