RUMOURS IN BRITAIN OF IMMINENT MOVE TO AID RUSSIA. AMERICAN CORRESPONDENT'S STORY. LONDON, August, 6. England is excited by persistent rumours of an imminent British move to join in the fighting with Russia or to create a double front for Hitler. One American correspondent' has got a message away relating to reports of largo British concentrations in the Arctic, the implication being that a landing would occur in Norway.

A mid-day Russian communique states: "During the night of August 5 our Troops continued to wage battle with the enemy in the Kholm, Smolensk and Byelaya Tserkov directions, and on the Estonian sector of the front. There have been no large-scale military operations. "In the Baltic Sea, an enemy transport, with troops and ammunition, was sunk by one of our submarines. "Our Air Force has continued to inflict blows upon enemy motorised and mechanised units, upon infantry and artillery and on the air force at his aerodromes.”
