WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MT. BRUCE MEETING COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Mt. Bruce Women’s Institute was held in the hall, Mrs H. West presiding. A demonstration by the teacher and pupils of the Miki Miki School on basketmaking, weaving and spinning was most instructive. Airs Church congratulated Mr Banks and the pupils on their work. The competitions resulted as follows:—Cornish pasty: Miss M. West, 1; Mrs West, 2. Blooms: Miss West (anemone), 1; Mrs H. West (winter rose), 2. Votes of thanks were passed to the hostess, Mrs D. McLachlan. The singing of the National Anthem brought an enjoyable gathering to a close.
