DIRECT ASSURANCE
SOUGHT BY THE UNITED STATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, August 5. The Secretary of State, Mr Hull, told the Press today that he hoped to receive direct assurances from Vichy that the French Government would reject any demands by the Axis for military concessions in French African territories.
