CELERY GROWING

NEED FOR POTASH. A deficiency of potash in the soil is very often the cause of celery rotting in the centre, as without this, and by the use of too much nitrogenous manure the growth becomes soft. The slightest frost after heavy rain quickly causes decay. Sprinkling wood ashes liberally in the trench before planting is one of the best ways of introducing potash into the soil.
