MINOR CLASH

The Associated Press of America's correspondent says Mr Akiyama stated that a minor clash between Japanese and Soviet border troops occurred near Manchuli a fortnight ago, but the border has been quiet since. JAPANESE TROOPS POSTED NEAR THAI FRONTIER. TOKIO, August 5. The Dome! news agency said that two Japanese army units have occupied an unnamed town near the border of Thailand and Indo-China, intimating that it is located in Cambodia. MARINE RISKS INSURANCE RATE DOUBLED IN TOKIO. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) TOKIO, August 5. M. Smetanin conferred for an hour with the Foreign Minister, Vice-Ad- 1 miral Toyoda. Considerable quantities of British goods are already on their way to Russia. In return Russian supplies will be made available to Britain.
