SOMETHING TASTY
TRY THESE RECIPES. These are two tasty recipes:— Current Crisps. Cream 3 cup butter well, gradually add 14 cups castor sugar, and beat un'il light. Sift 2 cups plain flour with 1 teaspoon baking powder, add to butter mixture with f cup well washed and dried currants. Beat 2 eggs well, add a little vanilla, and form into a dough. Roll out thinly and cut into rounds and bake on a greased baking tray in a moderate oven for about 15 minutes. Chestnut Wafers. Peel and bring -J-lb chestnuts to boil, then remove brown skin. Put them in a saucepan with enough milk or water to cover and boil until tender. Strain and then rub through a fine sieve. Melt 2oz chocolate in 1 tablespoon water and stir until smoothr. Add the chestnut puree, 4oz castor sugar, and the stiffly-beaten egg-white and a little vanilla flavouring. Line a baking tin with wax paper and drop mixture in small spoonfuls. Bake in a moderate oven until crisp. Store in airtight tins.
